George Costigan, Val McDermid, Burnistoun's Iain Connell, the Tuesday Review and Russian and Scottish poetry

Janice Forsyth talks to Burnistoun's Iain Connell about Uncles, his new live show with comedy partner Robert Florence, plus actor George Costigan talks about his debut novel.

We hear from Iain Connell, co-creator of hit 大象传媒 sketch show Burnistoun, who is taking new live show Uncles on its first Scottish tour with his comedy partner Robert Florence.

Theatre, television (Rita, Sue and Bob Too, Line of Duty and Happy Valley) and screen actor, George Costigan on his debut novel 'The Single Soldier' which has been described as "A magnificent, big beast of a book " by playwright, musician and novelist Willy Russell, this story is set in France during the German occupation.

We hear from Val McDermid who is Chair of the Wellcome Book Prize 2017 judging panel, about the shortlist for the 2017 which will be announced today.

Edinburgh's Makar Christine De Luca and Russian poet and translator Marina Boroditskaya are part of a Russian/UK literature project run by the British Council. Six poets, three from each country joined forces to write poetry inspired by Shakespeare's sonnets and translate the results in both languages. Ahead of performances in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee they will be performing and translating their work and talking about the experience of working together.

Our Tuesday Reviewers will be giving their verdicts on a new black comedy drama Big Little Lies from Sky Atlantic and starring Reece Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Laura Dern. They will also be listening to 'Semper Femina', the 6th studio album from Laura Marling, and watching the 大象传媒 4 documentary What do Artists Do All Day: Dougie Wallace, a London based Glasgow born award winning photographer best known for his social documentary projects and his distinct direct style of expressive street photography.
