Spring on the farm.
Sybil Ruscoe visits a family farm in Glamorgan to see the spring work underway in the fields and around the yard.
Spring is the traditional start of the agricultural cycle and a crucial period which often dictates farmers' fortunes later in the year. But its not just about cherry blossom and lambing; there's soil preparation, ploughing and spring arable crops to be sown, early season vegetables and salad produce to be picked as well as turning cattle out on to pasture for the first time this year.
On Goldsland Farm at Wenvoe near Cardiff, the Reader family has a herd of 180 dairy cows and this weekend they're enjoying the spring grass under their hooves for the first time since last autumn. Abi Reader is the current Wales Woman Farmer of the Year and she describes the sight of her cattle running and leaping around the field as like Christmas Day.
