Rick Wakeman

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie talk to keyboardist Rick Wakeman.

Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Maconie speak to keyboarding wizard Rick Wakeman about his tour and latest album Piano Portraits - the first ever solo piano album to make it into the UK top 10. The album was inspired by the unprecedented reaction to his performance of David Bowie's 'Life on Mars' on 大象传媒 Radio 2 last year. The album features solo piano arrangements of classic songs that he originally performed on. Rick Wakeman was a member of Strawbs before joining the progressive rock band Yes. He was also a session player for the likes of David Bowie, Elton John, Cat Stevens and T Rex.

Clare Crane supplies the very latest music news. There's also the legendary radio features The Chain - where listeners pick tracks to follow on from the previous one in a never ending string, or 'chain' if you will, of songs - and Tea Time Theme Time - whereby you get to be the envy of your office / city / nation if you're first to guess what links three tracks together.
