The defining and biggest-selling girl group of the 80s. Bananarama have returned in their original line-up and join 大象传媒 Radio 2's Sara Cox for a Sounds of the 80s special.
Sara, Keren and Siobhan talk about their formative DIY years, including their hook-ups with Iggy Pop, Terry Hall and the Sex Pistol's Paul Cook. The girls reveal how a natural feminism and refreshingly unsexualised style underpinned their early success, whilst the programme looks at their collaborations with Fun Boy Three and their track Cruel Summer.
Mid 80s success continues with the fledgling Stock, Aitken and Waterman, and the girls reflect on their dance choreography with friend Bruno Tonioli, including their infamous cover of Venus.
Bringing the trio's story bang up to date, they reflect with Sara about their close relationship with George Michael, and the poignancy of old friendships leading to their reformation and imminent tour.
Also in this episode, the usual host of videos, including a favourite Smiths song from Bananarama, hip-hop from The Beastie Boys, alternative from Big Country, pop from Hazell Dean, a treat from the 'Street Tuff' Rebel MC and much, much more.
Plus Sara brings you a 'Perfect' megamix of the top five from this week in 1988, topped by Fairground Attraction.
