ASTI

Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) is a UK registered not-for-profit whose sole purpose is to end acid violence at a global level. ASTI was founded in 2002 and now works with a network of six Acid Survivors Foundations in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Uganda that it has helped to form. ASTI has helped provide medical expertise and training to our partners, raised valuable funds to support survivors of acid attacks and helped change laws to introduce stricter regulations regarding the sale and distribution of acid as well as harsher punishments for perpetrators.听

鈥淲hen people came to visit, they were scared of me. It was unbearable to look at me. I wanted to commit suicide twice, but I stopped myself for my son's sake. I am a mum, I have to carry on living for him.鈥

鈥淚 kept hiding my face for many years. First with a scarf, then I got a wig. I did not want any scars to show.鈥

Flavia, bouncing back!

鈥淚 have no pain now, just scars. I even forget that I look different. I feel like I am back to the Flavia I was or an even better one. I am happy."
