Poet and Scottish Makar Jackie Kay reads from her new poetry commissioned for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park's new exhibition 'Tread Softly'. As well as her poetry, Jackie is the author of the novel 'Trumpet', which won the Guardian Fiction Prize and the memoir 'Red Dust Road' (Picador)
In Nicola Barker's experimental new novel H(A)PPY (William Heinemann) she is attempting to obliterate the narrative. Nicola has been longlisted three times for the Booker prize and her novel 'Wide Open' won the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.
'Ode to Leeds' is a new play by young writer Zodwa Nyoni. Based on her experiences as part of Leeds Young Authors, 'Ode to Leeds' is at the West Yorkshire Playhouse from 10th June.
Performance artist Scottee is a regular fixture on Radio 4's 'Loose Ends' as well as the cabaret circuit. His work often examines gender, body image and masculinity. In a new commission for The Verb, 'Felt Tips', he writes about the relationship he had with his mother as a small boy.
