Meet Bake-Off finalist Andrew Smyth, from Holywood, talking about his love of singing, enjoy Cappella Caeciliana in concert, and visit Jordanstown School. Great chat, great music.
From Bach to 'baking' - Holywood's Andrew Smyth attracted a huge following when he reached the finals of Bake-Off. TV viewers would have learned that he's an engineer with Rolls Royce in Derby. But they probably don't know that he's also a member of the illustrious Sitwell Singers in Derby. He tells John Anderson how he has sung in choirs since his university days (Choir of Magdalene College) and how important singing still is to him. John also talks to Cappella Caecilian conductor Donal McCrisken, and renowned singer and conductor Eamonn Dougan about a recent performance of some very special new music in Armagh. And there's a visit to Jordanstown School to meet the staff and children who, very candidly and very enthusiastically, discuss how important music is for them. A lively opening from Donaghadee Male Voice Choir and a familiar song by the Cavehill Community Choir to end, complete the very varied and entertaining selection of the last programme in the current series.
