After the sudden death of his wife, grief-stricken journalist George Turner moves his entire family to a remote corner of New Zealand, where he used to spend his childhood holidays, for a fresh start. His children are understandably reluctant, but at least when they arrive they are given a warm and enthusiastic, if unconventional, welcome. After being crashed into by a runaway sculpture and finding out he has bought the wrong house, surely nothing else can go wrong for George?
