70 Not Out: Wilko Johnson in session and in conversation

Wilko Johnson celebrates his 70th birthday in session at Maida Vale with bassist Norman Watt Roy and drummer Dylan Howe.

Wilko Johnson celebrates his 70th birthday in session at Maida Vale with bassist Norman Watt Roy and drummer Dylan Howe. He also talks to Paul Jones about reaching the milestone of 70 years this coming Wednesday, a birthday he thought he would never live to see after being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in 2012. Thankfully, after live saving surgery and a second diagnosis in 2013 Wilko was declared cancer free. Since then he has gone on to appear on TV's Game Of Thrones, record the best selling album Going Back Home with singer Roger Daltrey and make a successful return to performing, an achievement that will be crowned by his forthcoming 70th birthday celebration concert at the Royal Albert Hall in September. As Wilko himself says 'Man, there's nothing like being told you're dying to make you feel alive.' The session tracks include Keep On Loving You, Dr Dupree and Going Back Home.
