大象传媒 Pay & Pensions

The 大象传媒's admitting it needs to do more to tackle the 'gender pay gap' after the corporation revealed how much it pays its top presenters.

It's looking increasingly likely that the UK will agree a transitional agreement after Brexit, so British businesses have access to migrant workers they need. Yesterday a senior member of the government signalled that ministers will take a more pragmatic approach to Brexit and says the Cabinet is united in its determination to allow EU migration that meets the needs of British business. Downing Street has dismissed reports that the Prime Minister is prepared to offer EU citizens free movement to Britain for several years after Brexit.

Earlier this week the Government announced that six million men and women will have to wait a year longer than they expected to get their state pension. The rise in the pension age to 68 will now be phased in between 2037 and 2039, rather than from 2044 as was originally proposed. Those affected are currently between the ages of 39 and 47. The changes come as the demographic of the UK population is changing in a way that will have a huge effect on the country's welfare system, NHS and social services. Over a third of the UK's population is now over 50. The percentage of people in the UK over 65 is projected to grow to nearly a quarter of the population by 2045, while life expectancy has been steadily increasing.
