KC from KC & The Sunshine Band shares his 70s memories, including his international success with singles like Get Down Tonight and That's The Way I Like It.
At the start of the 70s, Harry Wayne Casey (KC) was a record store employee and working part-time for TK Records in Florida. He formed KC & The Sunshine Band in 1973 with Richard Finch, Jerome Smith and Robert Johnson. With the release of the self-titled second album in 1975 came the group's first major U.S. hit with Get Down Tonight. It topped the R&B chart in April and hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in August. Their success lasted until the fifth album; their last chart topping hit was Please Don't Go in December 1979.
Also on the show, Johnnie will delve into the ´óÏó´«Ã½ archive to unearth what was happening this week in music in the 70s, and another classic seven-inch single will be added to Johnnie's Jukebox.
