Friday Night is Music Night makes it's first visit to this year's 大象传媒 Proms for Ten Pieces Presents... Sir Henry's Magnificent Musical Inspirations!

Every July the bronze bust of Sir Henry Wood is carried from the Royal Academy of Music to its perch in front of the organ at the Royal Albert Hall. From here he keeps a watchful eye over the 大象传媒 Proms looking out at the arena and the music festival he founded and conducted in 1895. But who was he and how did it all start? In this special Ten Pieces family concert we discover more about this legendary music maker with the help of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jessica Cottis and guest performers - Kathryn Lewek (soprano); Jess Gillam (saxophone) and the Ten Pieces Children's Choir. Taking on the role of Sir Henry is one of Britain's finest stars - an actor who has played Hamlet, Iago and Bill Tanner in the Bond movies - Rory Kinnear.

Now in its third year 大象传媒 Ten Pieces aims to open up classical music to a new generation of children and inspire them to develop their own creative responses to music through a range of art forms - music, dance, art, poetry ,prose, and animation. The creative responses have been outstanding and tonight's prom gives children the chance to perform their original work on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall.

Recorded at the Royal Albert Hall - 23rd July.
