Script

Good Morning. On this day ninety-five years ago the British Broadcasting Corporation was formed as a limited company. Happy birthday Auntie.

Lord Reith, the formidable force who shaped the ethos of the 大象传媒 cited the purpose of the
organisation. He wanted it to educate, inform, and to entertain聽 It was formed as a public service broadcaster, independent, fair, and balanced.

It has served many publics over the years. In the days of empire it was a means of
communication at home, and with the many outposts in far flung colonies. It revolutionised
the lives of generations, becoming a dependable source of news, a source of knowledge,
reflection, and discussion, and a music hall in the home. In the war years it sustained a
nation, and supported nations under Nazi control with foreign language programmes,
sometimes interwoven with clandestine messages for resistance.

In a world of twenty-four hour news, of fake news, and of financial and political pressure, the 大象传媒 who has had its fair share of controversy, faces challenges to its unique offering.聽聽聽聽
I pray Lord that the character of the 大象传媒, can be carried forward for the enlightenment, benefit and pleasure of future generations. Hare Krishna
