The Future of Fishing, New Welsh farmers and Milestones.
How will the UK's fishing fleets fare after Brexit? The search for new farmers in Wales. Rescuing Norfolk's historic milestones.
Today MPs launch an inquiry into the future of the UK fishing industry, with the emphasis on the impact of Brexit. At the same time a report by the think tank the New Economics Foundation predicts a bleak outcome for some coastal towns with small fleets. But it's not a view that's shared by the National Federation of Fisherman's Organisations which says leaving the EU will bring more opportunities.
There are concerns about a shortage of young farmers taking up a scheme for new entrants into agriculture. A year ago Farming Connect in Wales set up a match-making service to bring aspiring farmers together with older landowners wanting to take a step back from the industry. But so far only seven new partnerships have been established.
For centuries milestones were essential roadside markers for travellers on foot or on horseback. Now many have fallen in to disrepair but in Norfolk, Nigel Ford is making it his mission to restore, renovate and reinstate hundreds of milestones. He's getting support from a small army of volunteers and farmers with a love for the county's rural heritage.
