Devolved farm policy; Livestock in winter

As farmers in England take stock of the recent announcements about changes to farm subsidy, Charlotte Smith asks how the system will work in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Now that Michael Gove has outlined his plans for a reformed farm subsidy system after Brexit, the landscape for English farmers is looking clearer. But agriculture is a devolved area, so where does this leave farmers in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland? We hear from the Farmers Union of Wales, the Ulster Farmers Union, and the agriculture spokesman for the Scottish National Party.

With several months of winter still ahead of us, what care do livestock need at this time of year? All this week, Farming Today will be looking at the issue, starting today with a visit to a chicken farm in Berkshire.

Presented by Charlotte Smith and produced by Emma Campbell.
