Independent Venue Week (IVW) returns for its 5th year and, to celebrate, Steve Lamacq tours five locations around the UK and shines a light on the alternative music scene in each place, celebrating the grassroots music venues that have become the bedrock of the local area.
This year, Steve will be broadcasting from Stowmarket, Leicester, Hebden Bridge, Liverpool and - tonight - continues the week in Guildford, broadcasting from The Boileroom. Steve will be looking at Guildford's musical heritage and there'll be a session from a local 大象传媒 Music Introducing artist.
Founded in 2014 as a way to celebrate the heroes that own and run small venues all across the country, Independent Venue Week has grown massively in five years. Starting out with just 17 venues in 2014, it has grown this year with almost 200 venues already signed up. The project will run from Monday 29th January - Sunday 4th February 18.
