Official report says NI's economic growth would take a 12 per cent hit if there's no Brexit deal - former DUP MLA Nelson McCausland and Phil Kelly from the NI Labour Party debate.
Brexit hits the headlines again this morning. Government official forecasts say Northern Ireland's economic growth could take a 12 per cent hit if there's no deal between the UK and EU post Brexit. The forecasts model the 15-year impact of the UK staying in the single market, doing a trade deal with the EU or leaving without a deal. Then - two DUP MPs caused anger after they called for the government to demonstrate a "no surrender attitude to EU bureaucrats". Former DUP MLA Nelson McCausland and Phil Kelly from the NI Labour Party debate.
Also on the programme, the Shadow Secretary of State Owen Smith has said Labour is committed to its manifesto pledge to "strengthen women's rights to choose a safe abortion". He's hosting a delegation of Labour MPs today in Belfast. They will meet lobby groups, medics and women affected by current laws in Northern Ireland. The Labour Party says it will push the government to reform abortion law here if we move to direct rule. But is this a welcome step towards equal rights for women here - or unnecessary interference in what is as things still stand, a devolved matter? Stephen got the views of Grainne Teggart from Amnesty International and Tracy Harkin from the Iona Institute.
And, should our teachers be given a five per cent pay hike? That's the call from the Association of School and College Leaders. They say morale among teachers and school leaders is "at an all-time low". Maxine Murphy-Higgins from the teaching union NASUWT and commentator Charlie Wolf debate.
