Neil makes a touching declaration, and Joe's plan backfires.
Clarrie and Susan are taking the 'no complaining for Lent' challenge very seriously. Clarrie thinks it's unfair that Nic has lost her job at The Bull, but Susan thinks she had it coming to her, she shouldn't have had a go at Emma in the first place.
Sales of kefir are finally picking up, Susan's promotional display is working and Helen praises her for helping a customer by explaining how kefir can help with eczema.
Joe hatches a Valentine's day surprise for Eddie and Clarrie with the help of Nic's cooking. When they've nearly finished the preparations Clarrie appears home early telling Joe that Eddie's won tickets to see the Jersey Boys Musical in Stoke tonight. So Joe and Nic take their place at the table and enjoy the Valentine's meal themselves. Nic knows that it wasn't really about Eddie and Clarrie - Joe had wanted to give Nic a distraction after losing her job. Then Joe shows her how to ballroom dance around the Grundy's kitchen table.
Susan reveals the reason behind her job hunt is because she worries that Neil is working himself into the ground, and they can't afford to retire yet. But Neil tells her that he'd work until he was ninety, through hail and blizzard if it meant providing for her.
