Peggy's loyalty is misplaced, and there is a shock for Will.

Brian helps Peggy with her online banking but he's a little worse for wear and after a few failed password attempts Peggy tells him he's better off coming tomorrow when he's got a clear head. Brian protests, he only had a few glasses of wine with some potential clients. Peggy says it seems like more than a couple, he smells like a distillery.

Pat feels she owes Jennifer an apology - if she hadn't encouraged her to go to Grey Gables then the photo of her drinking and laughing would never have appeared in The Echo. Alas, this is the era of fake news, thinks Jennifer, maybe that's how they can get away with reporting her as drinking Champagne when it was actually Prosecco. Furthermore, their article about Brian implies the contamination is his fault, and it's starting to get to him.

Later, Brian returns to Home Farm and apologises to Jennifer. Jennifer has always been such marvellous support and without her and the children he would be a lost cause. Jennifer tells him not to be so hard on himself, once the Environment Agency have finished their investigations and he is vindicated all will return to normal. Brian interrupts, it's been eating away at him for weeks, "a vicious secret that I've kept form you", he has known all along that something was buried in Low Mead, because forty years ago he did allow something to be dumped there...

When Will arrives home late to find Nic "as cold as ice" and short of breath in bed. He helps her up, and takes her straight to A+ E.
