Afternoon Concert this week focuses on the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and today's programme begins with a full concert recorded in January at Aberdeen Music Hall. Martyn Brabbins conducted three cornerstones of the repertoire: Debussy's groundbreaking tone poem Pr茅lude 脿 l'apr猫s-midi d'un faune, Tchaikovsky's Path茅tique Symphony and an early Mozart Piano Concerto featuring the young Dutch pianist Arthur Jussen, also known from the duo in which he performs with his brother Lucas.

Danny Driver is the soloist in another concerto, by the 19th and 20th century American composer Amy Beach, and percussionist Colin Currie is the soloist in Richard Rodney Bennett's Marimba Concerto. This is a recording made last year in Glasgow by the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Conductor John Wilson joined them to conduct a number of works by the late Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, whose versatile musical vision took in classical and jazz. Today there's also a chance to hear his Third Symphony.
