Sara sits in for Chris. We speak to three Early Achievers who tell us what they've been up to in the early hours of the morning; Emma's completed a 30 minute cycle and Steve was up bright and early at 2am to milk the cows. Plus there's a Whole Wower of tunes to get you moving on this rainy Easter Monday with tracks from Fat Boy Slim, The Bee Gees and The Shamen. Karthi Gnanasegaram gives us a round up from the weekend's sports and today's Pause For Thought comes from Priest and Quaker Ruth Scott Anglican.

Pause for Thought
Ruth Scott, Anglican Priest and Quaker:
Last week I was giving the Holy Week addresses in Coventry Cathedral. For Christians, Holy Week is a sombre, reflective time when we focus on the last days and crucifixion of Jesus. You can imagine, then, my sense of disorientation when, coming out of the cathedral, I was confronted by a German Christmas market in full swing and a brightly lit Christmas tree towering over the square!
It turned out to be the film set for Nativity 4. In a way this clash of festivals is quite appropriate: Without the Easter experience, there would be no Christmas story. In fact the latter doesn鈥檛 appear in the earliest Christian writings. It developed a little later. For most people, however, it is Christmas that takes precedence, with its celebration of new birth, gift-giving and general over-indulgence in food, drink and family. We prefer parties to party-poopers, and Holy Week with its focus on betrayal, torture and death is not a barrel of laughs.
But for me, the story of Holy Week and Easter is utterly central to my life. In fact, this time last year, when I thought I might not live to see another Easter - because of a life-threatening, aggressive cancer - its message was my guiding light. The story of the death and resurrection of Jesus constantly reminds me that out of death-dealing circumstances, new life may come. It is possible to be a positive force for good in the world, even if that鈥檚 simply by choosing to live with courage, grace and serenity through times of suffering. These things make a difference.
Few, if any of us will never have times of pain and anguish. When deathly things happen to us I think the question to ask is not, 鈥淲hy me?鈥 but, 鈥淲hat can I do to bring something life-giving to birth out of this terrible situation?鈥 I don鈥檛 know if I鈥檒l live to see any or many more Easters, but each day I have now is a gift that gives me the opportunity to celebrate life afresh, and rejoice in all those people I meet who are trying to do the same. It seems, after all, that Easter is as much, or even more, a time for celebration as Christmas. 聽聽聽聽聽
