But if you're trying it for the first time, what sort of hurdles will you face?
A new guide by the etiquette experts, Debrett's, aims to help people aged over 50 navigate a way through dating in 2018.
Common concerns seem to be feeling out of touch with modern dating rules and a lack of confidence to make contact with the person you're interested in. And if you do finally meet, who pays the bill. Many struggle with writing a positive profile about themselves, while some feel shy and nervous on dates and worry about seeming 'desperate.'
