Mariss Jansons conducts Mahler's 2nd Symphony

The 2018 Leonie Sonning Music Prize winner, conductor Mariss Jansons leads the Royal Danish Orchestra and soloists Genia Kuhmeier and Bernarda Fink in Mahler's 2nd Symphony.

As part of Radio 3 In Concert tonight's travels begin in Copenhagen, before crossing the 脴resund Bridge to Sweden and music by Swedish woman composer Valborg Aulin.

As the 2018 winner of the L茅onie Sonning Music Prize, conductor Mariss Janssons leads a performance of Mahler's 'Resurrection' Symphony'from a concert at the Royal Danish Academy of Music held in March this year. Genia K眉hmeier and Bernarda Fink are the vocal soloists.

and then its a short but spectacular crossing to Sweden to hear the Violin Sonata by Valborg Aulin. Per Sporrong is the violinist and Johan Ull茅n the pianist. Valborg was born into a musical family, her brother Tor was also a composer, and supported by a grant from the Swedish Nightingale - Jenny Lind, she studied for a while with Niels Gade.
