Tom Service talks to conductor Stephane Deneve in Belgium. Also viola da gamba player Hille Perl on her early music repertoire and a new book on Chopin's piano by Paul Kildea.
Tom travels to Belgium to talk to the French conductor St茅phane Den猫ve, Music Director of the Brussels Philharmonic since 2015, where he's developing the 'Centre for Future Orchestra Repertoire' (Cffor), championing contemporary music. Also, one of the world's finest viola da gamba players, Hille Perl, discusses the charm and challenges of Early Music in repertoire spanning from Italy, Germany, France, Spain and the New World. And a new book 'Chopin's Piano - a journey through Romanticism', where Paul Kildea traces back the history of the instrument in Mallorca in which the famous Preludes were written, and what happened to it when it fell into the hands of the celebrated pianist and harpsichordist Wanda Landowska.
