The Rezillos, Nick Lowe and The CATS Awards
Janice Forsyth tunes into what's current in film, TV, arts, theatre and music across Scotland. Music and conversation with The Rezillos and Nick Lowe.
FAY FIFE & EUGENE REYNOLDS from THE REZILLOS look back over their career and discuss their upcoming live appearance at Summerhall in Edinburgh (on Sun the 24th of June) It's part of 10 days of outdoor live music and events being staged in partnership with the National Museum of Scotland to coincide with the launch of a new exhibition - RIP IT UP: THE STORY OF SCOTTISH POP.
Janice will also discuss the new DVD release of a classic early film in the wave of racially progressive dramas of the 1950s and 60s: Joseph L. Mankiewicz's No Way Out - an electrifying film-noir about a doctor whose ethics are put to the test when he comes into conflict with a racist criminal.
She will also have a special report on a very unusual musical which will be staged at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe. "The Mould That Changed the World" which traces the life and work of Alexander Fleming, the Scottish physician and microbiologist who discovered penicillin and shared a Nobel prize award. (Ahead of the Fringe, the play will have its Scottish premiere on the 13th of June, at the National Museum of Scotland.)
After 3, Columnist and theatre critic Joyce McMillan talks about the Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland and we'll have a brand new single of the week!
