Singer and songwriter Steve Ellis, who made his name with the band Love Affair, shares his 1970's memories with Johnnie.

Steve Ellis is Johnnie's 'My 70s' guest on this week's show.

Steve made his name in the 1960's with the band Love Affair. The band made it big in Britain, with hits such as, 'Everlasting Love'. Despite the success, Steve left the band in 1969.

In the early 70s he formed the band, Ellis, a short-lived partnership with keyboardist Zoot Money. He then went on to form the band, Widowmaker, releasing the album Widowmaker in 1976. Widowmaker toured with the Who, and with ELO in the USA, and released their first eponymous album but the project wasn't to last.

Steve recorded a solo album in the 1970's, 'The Last Angry Man' but it didn't see the light of day. At the end of the decade, Steve moved to Brighton to take time out from rock n' roll.

In 1991, Steve hit the road once again with Steve Ellis' Love Affair and had a ten-year stint playing in the U.K. and across Europe.

The band recorded a charity single 'Step Inside My Love' in aid of the NSPCC, with Paul Weller.

Steve also found time, along with boxing promoter Dean Powell, to organize a tribute concert in memory of the late Steve Marriott, at The Ruskin Arms in East Ham in London. This then morphed into the annual Small Faces convention. In 2001 Steve made a memorable appearance at the Steve Marriott Memorial Concert, along with Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Ian Maclagan, Jerry Shirley, Peter Frampton and Midge Ure among others, at the London Astoria.

His latest album, Boom! Bang! Twang! came out in April and features tracks co-written with Paul Weller.

Steve will be on tour in the UK from the end of September.
