Conductor Vasily Petrenko speaks to Sean Rafferty ahead of his Prom with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, with a programme including Elgar鈥檚 In the South overture and Bartok鈥檚 Concerto for Orchestra. Sean's guests also include Ziazan, who describes her singing as a mixture of soprano and contralto, inspired by the singers of the so-called Golden Age of singing. Ziazan performs live in the studio ahead of an appearance at the Arcola Theatre for the Mosaic Opera Showcase. There's also live music from the young soprano Gemma Summerfield, winner of the final Chilcott Award for her 'poise, her artistry and her commitment to text, as well as for the beauty of her voice' (Iain Burnside).
