Unicef and the Children’s Emergency Fund

Unicef has been operating for 70 years, vaccinating, educating and protecting children around the world. Operating in over 190 countries, Unicef is there for children in danger. Whenever and wherever conflict or disaster strikes, the Children’s Emergency Fund helps Unicef respond immediately, providing children with life-saving food, clean water, vaccines, healthcare, and protection from violence, exploitation and abuse.

Léon’s story

Léon’s story
Léon is one of millions of children caught up in the conflict in the Central African Republic. Léon and his mother fled their home to seek safety, but they were found by soldiers and his mother was brutally killed. Léon then fell into the arms of a rival militia, who took him on as a lookout. However, thanks to Unicef and the work made possible through donations to the Children’s Emergency Fund, he is now back at school where he belongs.

The Children’s Emergency Fund

When a major crisis occurs, Unicef acts rapidly to deliver life-saving food, medicine and water so children in danger get the help they need. In the Central African Republic, Unicef helps children caught up in this under-reported conflict by providing them with education, healthcare and psychological support. By donating today, you can help us reach more children – especially where there is little media attention but the need for help is just as great.

Deborah's story

Deborah's story
Deborah is 13 years old. She is in the second to last grade of primary school and attends a temporary learning space funded by UNICEF in Bangui, Central African Republic. Deborah said, "I have not been here for long, but I love it, especially the French classes".
