Actor-turned-writer Greg Wise talks to Sally at the Edinburgh International Book Festival about the book he co-wrote with his sister, Not That Kind of Love.
Greg Wise is probably best known for playing Lord Mountbatten in The Crown and as the husband of fellow actor Emma Thompson. Now he鈥檚 added author to his credits with a moving book he wrote with his sister, Clare, about her experience of living and dying from cancer. In a special event recorded at this year鈥檚 Edinburgh International Book Festival he joins Sally to discuss sibling devotion and the reasons for writing the book.
America has a long and proud tradition of quilting which plays an important part of the African American story. In her second report from Alabama, in the run-up to the state鈥檚 bicentennial next year, Scotland-based mezzo soprano, Andrea Baker, meets two Alabama quilters to find out more about the tradition of quilting and its spiritual and political roots.
In a special extended discussion Sally explores the challenges faced by parents of neuro-diverse children with conditions like dyslexia, ADHD and autism. Featuring a personal conversation between Sally and her son Rossie about how they both coped with his dyslexia, Sally is also joined by two mothers of autistic children who share how they have come to understand and celebrate their children鈥檚 uniqueness.
