Alan Yentob follows celebrated young British playwright James Graham, whose award-winning works take audiences to the very heart of key political events.
Alan Yentob follows celebrated young British playwright James Graham, whose award-winning works take audiences to the very heart of the defining political events that shape people's lives. Often looking to the past to better understand the present, Graham is perhaps the most accomplished dramatist of his generation, renowned for tackling big, complex subjects through unexpected side doors and creating highly entertaining, razor-sharp, thought-provoking works across theatre, film and television.
A working-class writer from a former mining community in Nottinghamshire, this film delves into Graham's acclaimed hits, including This House, Labour of Love and Ink, alongside his latest controversial television drama Brexit: The Uncivil War, while also exploring his own personal story and what drives him to create such unique political theatre.
Featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes on-set access and specially performed excerpts, with contributions from collaborators Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Tamsin Greig and journalists and politicians including Nick Robinson and Peter Mandelson.
