Series about the UK's biggest fishing port, Peterhead. Quality advisor Allison Sherrington makes her rounds at the fishmarket, which is undergoing a state-of-the art redevelopment.
Fishing boat the Boy John sets out from Peterhead harbour in search of whitefish, and steams for 24 hours to reach the remote Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The boat burns over a thousand pounds in fuel just to get there, but the catches are poor. Skipper Jonny McLeman is feeling the pressure. The crew are relieved when the net looks heavy but discover they've caught a huge rock. They work late into the night mending a hole in the net. Skipper Jonny needs a change in luck, but his net gets stuck on an oil pipeline. Twenty miles up the road, the Zenith is setting out in search of whitefish and prawns. At the helm is 28-year-old Paul Robertson, and in charge of the deck is his 26-year-old brother Adam. They start with a good catch but the hauls begin to get smaller, leaving Paul with a tough decision: when to cut and run. Adam has an accident on board and Paul decides it's time to head to a new fishing ground. Back on land, at Peterhead's busy fish market, quality advisor Allison Sherrington is doing her rounds at the early-morning sale. 拢400,000 of fish is bought and sold here each morning. But a big change is coming: the harbour authority has built a huge new state-of-the-art fishmarket as part of a 拢50m redevelopment, and it's Allison's job to make sure it opens on time. As the old market closes, there's no guarantee that the new one will be able to open - to do so, it must first pass a stringent inspection.
