Thursday: Opera Matinee - Mozart's Cos矛 fan tutte K.588
Mozart's sparkling comic opera Cos矛 fan tutte K.588, with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Marc Minkowski, recorded at 2017's Enescu Festival in Bucharest and presented by Tom McKinney.
Mozart's satirical and sparkling opera Cos矛 fan tutte K.588 is given by Les Musiciens du Louvre and Marc Minkowski, from 2017's Enescu Festival in Bucharest. The opera wasn't particularly well-received at its premiere in 1790, and the subject matter remains divisive today as Don Alfonso tried to prove that no woman can be faithful to her lover. But romantic cynicism aside, the music brims with sublime arias and vocal fireworks, and in the end everyone agrees that's it better to laugh than to cry. It's presented by Tom McKinney.
