Call You & Yours - what is your experience of NHS mental health services?
The Royal College of Psychiatrists says many people are facing long waits before they get to see a mental health specialist and the delays are causing serious problems for patients. As their health worsens, it can lead to serious financial or personal problems.
NHS mental health services help people with a wide variety of conditions, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality problems, bipolar disorder and alcoholism. But a survey published today by the Royal College of Psychiatrists suggests that a quarter of people with a diagnosed mental health condition waited more than three months to be seen in the NHS. About six per cent waited more than a year.
The government says spending on mental health services is at record levels. Yet patients complain that it can take a long time to get a referral to the right specialist. Tell us what happened when you turned to the NHS for help. Did you get the treatment you needed, when you needed it?
