A Ukrainian piano prophet and Hindustani harpsichord

Verity Sharp presents new music by Ukrainian 鈥榩rophet of the piano鈥� Lubomyr Melnyk.

Lubomyr Melnyk鈥檚 continuous, cascading style of composing revels in the rich harmonic possibilities of the piano. Verity previews the 鈥榩rophet of the piano鈥檚鈥� new album released to mark his 70th birthday.

More new music comes courtesy of prolific Spanish producer and composer Ra眉l Refree, and Yama Warashi, the Bristol based brainchild of Japanese artist and musician Yoshino Shigihara.

Elsewhere on the programme, Sarah Angliss evokes a London tree canopy using recorder and electronics, and Hindustani music meets the harpsichord in William Hamilton Bird鈥檚 18th century transcriptions of traditional Indian music.
