Discount retailer Poundland has caused controversy with its latest Valentine's Day gift, a heart-shaped package with nothing in it. The Gift of Nothing, naturally priced at 拢1, is intended as "a bit of fun", says the retailer.
But Friends of the Earth and other campaign groups have complained that whatever Poundland was thinking about, it certainly wasn't the environment. This comes as Sir David Attenborough has said that people have never been more "out of touch" with the natural world than they are today.

Stephen Ritchie from Edinburgh is taking part in the largest ever trial for secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and says that it has given him a "huge boost" - even though he might actually be on a placebo drug.
