PM to meet Stormont parties, school mobile phones ban, and business sign row
PM vows not to bin the backstop ahead of meetings with Stormont parties today. Will it be enough to get local politicians on side?
Theresa May will hold Brexit talks with our five main political parties at Stormont later. The PM is on a 2-day visit to try to reassure people she can secure a Brexit deal that avoids the return of customs checkpoints on the Irish border. Vinny spoke to 大象传媒 NI political editor Mark Devenport, Alliance Party MLA Stephen Farry and 大象传媒 NI economics editor John Campbell.
Also on the programme, the schools minister has said mobile phones in schools should be banned. Nick Gibb believes they're damaging our kids health and education. Is he right? Or is he just railing against the modern world? Vinny got the views of commentators Simon Warr and Tina Calder.
And, business owners in Carrickfergus are asking for a sign from their local council about what they can do about the signs above their front doors. 3 traders opposite the Castle have been told by Mid and East Antrim to remove their signs immediately or face a hefty fine. The Authority says they're not in keeping with the conservation area - however, one business has had their up for 4 years. Our reporter, Nicola Weir, went to meet them and began by asking Lisa Clarke of the Yoga Loft why signage was so important to her business.
