Belfast gridlock, Brexit, and school pupils in climate protest.
Report reveals Belfast motorists spend a week a year in gridlock with congestion costing drivers £140M. Is it time more of us ditched the car and embraced public transport?
New research just out suggests drivers in Belfast spent 190 hours per driver, per year, in traffic! Belfast is in fact 2nd on the list of worst offenders across the UK - beaten only by London. With this is mind - is it now time that more of us ditched the car and embraced public transport? Stephen got the views of Aine Groogan, Green Party South Belfast representative and the UUP Councillor and former Belfast Mayor Jim Rodgers.
Also on the programme, the clock continues to tick on towards Brexit, with little more sign of a deal. Business bodies have expressed concerns about what no deal could mean. And why was Theresa May's chief Brexit negotiator overheard discussing the government's Brexit strategy in a pub full of journalists? Stephen spoke to ´óÏó´«Ã½ NI's Economics and Business Editor John Campbell.
And, we're used to hearing about teacher strikes but what about pupil strikes? Thousands of pupils across the UK are expected to walk out of class for three hours this Friday to protest about climate change. The mass walkout called UK Youth Strike 4 Climate currently has students in 38 cities and towns across the UK planning to join Friday's protest. A strike is planned in Belfast at City Hall this Friday at 11am. Stephen got the views of Steven Agnew from the Green Party who support this protest, former teacher Simon Warr and activist Scott Moore.
