Recitals from the BMS International Festival of Chamber Music 2019 with the Amatis Trio, pianist Leon McCawley and The London Haydn Quartet

The second of our programmes from the 2019 Belfast Music Society International Festival of Chamber Music, recorded in the Harty Room at Queen's University. In today's recital pianist Leon McCawley performs Schumann's Abegg Variations, a set of theme and variations with a musical motif based on the name "Abegg" - a fictitious friend of the composer. Then the London Haydn Quartet perform Mozart's String Quartet in D K. 575. Pianist Leon McCawley returns with a performance of Three Sketches by Austrian-British composer Hans G谩l, and to complete today's recital the Amatis Trio performs Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 1, written when the composer was only 16 years old.
