Documentary series following the people that work all hours to keep Scotland鈥檚 busiest train station on track, delving into the buildings history with stories of the past. Central Station has been at the heart of Glasgow for 140 years, running over 950 trains a day for 32 million passengers a year. Day and night for one long summer we meet the people who make the station work. Central Station has long been Scotland鈥檚 busiest - it is the Northern terminus of the West Coast Main Line from London and the starting point for travel to hundreds of stations in mainland Britain. Over the decades the station has knitted itself into the lives of many people. For generations of Glasgow folk, particularly those that work here, Central station has become part of the family.
In this fourth episode, temperatures rise in and outside the station as the heat causes points failures and disruptions across the board. Tom and Marie reminisce about their holidays to the coast in the Glasgow Fair and the Comms room work hard to get the bank holiday passengers to their destinations in time. Tour guide Paul reveals the stations wartime past and passenger Margaret remembers being evacuated from Central in WWII. Duty manager Drew has an unusual health and safety check to complete and we meet Alison, one of ScotRail鈥檚 few female drivers. The lost property office turns up some curious items left behind by passengers and some mischievous guide dog puppies are in training on the concourse.
