A Czech Family Affair
Piano Quintets by Dvorak and his son-in-law, Suk with Mozart's Piano Trio in G to start. Performed by Ensemble 360. Ian Skelly presents.
Dvorak's second Piano Quintet was a success from the moment of its first performance. The folk tunes that permeate it are also evident in his son-in-law, Josef Suk's Piano Quintet which will precede it - an unjustly neglected work which boasts an outstandingly affecting slow movement. The concert, recorded in Sheffield's Crucible Studio Theatre as part of Music In The Round, opens with Mozart's radiant and engaging Piano Trio in G, K496.
Presented by Ian Skelly.
