Celebrating the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra (3/4)

John Wilson conducts the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra in an American-themed programme of music by Bernstein, Barber and Rachmaninov. Presented by Fiona Talkington.

John Wilson conducts the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra in a varied programme with an American theme. Bernstein's celebration of New York's razzle-dazzle contrasts with Samuel Barber's beautiful, nostalgic evocation of small-town simplicity. Although it was written during his sojourn in Switzerland, Sergei Rachmaninov arrived in America to settle just in time to attend final rehearsals of his third, and what was to be his final, symphony.
Presented by Fiona Talkington.
