Wild Garlic, Chimichurri and an attack of Aphids
Nicola Singleton answers your gardening questions, Kirsten Gilmour makes a chimichurri salsa and Carole Baxter adds an instant splash of colour with the best of summer bedding.
Nicola Singleton celebrates the seasons in our gardens and on our plates. But when the ambitions of the gardener and the chef collide, trowels get drawn. Chef and keen gardener Graeme Pallister joins Nicola in her garden at home as she tries to remove some wild garlic from her flower beds…..but chef isn’t happy at this idea one little bit!
It’s that time of year when our vegetable gardens are going to start coming under attack from bugs and pests – so what can we do to combat an attack of aphids?
Kirsten Gilmour absolutely loves fresh herbs. Combine them with some garlic, chilli, lime juice, red onion, pepper, sweetcorn and you have the makings of her highland chimichurri. Call it a salsa, call it a pesto, call it what you want, it tastes amazing on new potatoes and even better on some bbq’d meats.
Summer might just be around the corner but don’t jump the line just yet, Ken Cox and Carole Baxter have got some great advice on when is the right time to plant out your seedlings and how to give your growing space and instant splash of colour.
