We celebrate 25 years of Metalheadz with a Friday Drum & Bass special. Across the show we explore the sounds that shaped this musical Drum & Bass revolution, from soul, dub and jungle, to hardcore. We also explore the current sound of the genre and catch up with some of the characters who have been at the epicentre of the scene for the last three decades.
Indi Rupture aka DJ Mantra has been putting on iconic Drum & Bass nights in the capital since the early 00s. A staunch supporter of the sounds made by female artists, Indi joins us to talk about the early days of Rupture, it's transition into a label and how the drum 'n' bass landscape has changed since Kemistry and Storm linked up with Goldie to launch Metalheadz back in 1994.
New duo Technimatic are in the mix and in conversation just after 12. We were first introduced to the duo via the legendary LTJ Bukem, when he presented his Friday guest mix earlier in the year. We've asked them to take us on a journey through the sounds that influenced Drum & Bass, to the very forefront of the scene in 2019.
Plus we hear from Dom & Roland, Klute, Mark XTC and godfathers Fabio and Grooverider, as they tell us exactly what they love about Drum & Bass.
