Sophie Raworth introduces highlights of commemorations held to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
On the morning of 5 June, Her Majesty The Queen, with the president of the United States and other heads of government, joins the last surviving veterans to attend the National Commemorative Event in Portsmouth.
The following day, all eyes turn to Normandy in France, where a special service of remembrance is held in Bayeux War Cemetery to pay tribute to all those who served and died fighting to liberate France.
