Bach: A Transatlantic Alliance

The Royal Academy of Music Soloists Ensemble teams up with students from Toronto鈥檚 Glenn Gould School for an all-Bach concert conducted by Trevor Pinnock.

Recorded at Wigmore Hall
Presented by Natasha Riordan

Young musicians from London's Royal Academy of Music Soloists Ensemble and Toronto鈥檚 Glenn Gould School collaborate for this all-Bach concert, conducted by Trevor Pinnock. As well as Bach's popular 3rd Brandenburg Concerto (one of six works he presented to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt in 1721), the concert features the UK premiere of J贸zef Koffler鈥檚 1938 arrangement of the Goldberg Variations (originally for keyboard). Scored for small orchestra, this instrumental version is largely unknown, which is surprising, given the popularity of Bach鈥檚 original.
