Richard Carpenter

Richard Carpenter, the iconic producer, songwriter and one half of legendary group The Carpenters joins Ken Bruce.

Richard Carpenter, one half of the sibling duo The Carpenters, chooses the Tracks of My Years with music from 10cc, Fred Astaire Nat King Cole and The Beatles. With a trademark sound highlighted by Richard's multi-layered production and sister Karen's timeless voice, The Carpenters set a new standard for melodic pop becoming the top-selling American artists of the 1970's. Some fifty years on, they remain among the best-selling legacy acts worldwide. In December last year the newly produced "Carpenters With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" was released with fresh orchestrations augmenting the original recordings. The album features timeless hits and favourites, pairing the duo's original vocal and instrumental tracks with new arrangements from Richard, conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London.
