Day 2 of the Holiday Pay bombshell that could strain the financial stability of NI Plc. - and our coverage today focuses on a political bombshell. Could this be the Alliance Party's RHI moment? Because at the centre of today's Nolan Show are big questions for a former government minister - Stephen Farry - and the civil servants who advised him. The Nolan Show can reveal this morning that Stephen Farry did have discussions with senior civil servants about the holiday pay ruling. Yesterday, we broke the news that the Department of Finance was considering how much of a payout every civil servant in NI could get if they didn't get proper holiday pay. The story goes beyond civil servants - whether you work in the private or public sector, you could be in for a claim that allows you to go back up to 20 years for payments. This could cost NI Plc hundreds of millions of pounds. Could it dwarf the potential costs that caused so much concern over RHI? But there is another dramatic twist to this story. When the British government in Westminster realised the potential financial exposure, they very quickly rushed through legislation to cap the costs. They limited employees to only being able to go back 2 years. What did NI do - to protect our finances? Nothing.
