Award winning American writers Jason Reynolds and Kwame Alexander, who are over for the Edinburgh International Book Festival, join Janice on the sofa and talk about how each of their novels uses rhythmn to encourage young people to get into reading; each read extracts from their books.

Award winning composer Gareth Williams, best known for composing The National Theatre of Scotland's Trilogy The 306, will perform a song he鈥檚 written specially for The Afternoon Show, inspired by the last line of a novel ahead of special Edinburgh Book Festival event 'Last Lines' involving various high-profile composers and the Hebrides Ensemble.

We鈥檒l hear from Amy Booth-Steel, star of hit Fringe play, #HonestAmy, directed by Kathy Burke, and have a live performance from Amy herself.

Best-selling writer - comedian, author and former doctor, Adam Kay will be on the sofa.
