The prime minister's second attempt to trigger an election fails. What now for Brexit? Could a NI only backstop be the answer?
Another extraordinary night at Westminster, as Parliament's last act of this sitting was to reject an election. And that's all we'll be hearing from the chamber for the next five weeks after the Government suspended Parliament. MPs held signs saying "silenced", shouting "shame on you." MPs also burst into song on the Commons benches, singing traditional Welsh and Scottish songs. There's mounting speculation about what deal - if any - the Government might strike with the EU. And the Northern Ireland-only solutions to the border appear to be back on the agenda. But are the DUP open to some form of special arrangements for NI? Vinny spoke to Alliance MEP Naomi Long, TUV MLA Jim Allister, UUP MLA Steve Aiken and NI Labour Party member Phil Kelly.
Also on the programme, the police say the New IRA is behind a bomb that was found in the Creggan area of Londonderry last night. During the operation officers were attacked by a large number of petrol bombs - and the PSNI believe at least two young people were burned while trying to throw them. Vinny spoke to Assistant Chief Constable Mark Hamilton and asked him what happened.
And, animal rights protesters caused a stir in Belfast a few days ago, by roasting a "dog" on Royal Avenue. Their banner read - "If You Wouldn't Eat a Dog, Why Eat a Pig? Go Vegan!" The dog was fake, but the message pretty clear - don't eat meat. Why do many of us have no problem eating some animals - yet are repulsed at the thought of eating others? Vinny got the views of animal rights campaigner John Carmody and commentator Dave Atherton.
