PAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK. Every year many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling.

We exist to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.

Andy Airey with daughter Sophie who took her own life on 19th December 2018. Since Sophie’s death, Andy and his family have worked to increase awareness of PAPYRUS and raised over £40,000 for the charity.

HOPELINEUK is a free and confidential advice service, run by PAPYRUS, for any young person struggling with thoughts of suicide, or for those who are helping to support a young person and keep them safe. Last year, contacts to HOPELINEUK increased by over 80%.
